Michelle, a middle school science teacher, used Superstructures to help students map connections between what they eat and how it affects their bodies. “Students got really, really excited once they could see the connections between what they were learning and what their peers thought,” she explained, as they used a Web structure to build and visualize their ideas together. The activity made thinking visible and helped students learn from one another in real time.
She noticed a clear shift in classroom energy, with students eager to use it again and asking when the next Superstructure would happen. It gave all of her students a way to contribute, allowing them to demonstrate their understanding without the pressure of speaking in front of the class. As she put it, “some of my more reserved and quieter students actually found their voice using Superstructures.”
Michelle also highlighted how easy it was to implement, noting that “we implemented it within minutes in my classroom,” making it simple for students to jump in and begin sharing their thinking.
